As many Tahoe residents are familiar with the occasional bear foraging through their trash or wandering through their yards. This summer, these sightings are increasingly more common. Nevada wildlife officials are saying these bears are a new kind of trouble maker and have been fondly calling them “drought” bears.
The abnormally dry conditions have limited the bears natural resources and forced them to venture into human territory. It’s incredibly important for homeowners and vacationers to be aware of potential bears in neighborhoods and on beaches.
