We’ve all been wishing for it and it’s finally here; the first winter storm. Now is the perfect time to start planning those ski vacations and boarding trip with your bros! According to The Tahoe Daily Tribune, the forecast for the first winter storm of the 2015-16 season for Tahoe-Truckee has gotten a bit more promising. View our live cam HERE
NWS reports a foot or more of snow could fall above 8,500 feet, with “localized amounts around 2 feet.”
Snow levels will remain above 8,000 feet “through midnight Sunday night, then falling to lake level Monday morning.”
The forecast is an upgrade from what NWS reported Saturday when it suggested only a “few inches of snow” was possible.
As is the case with most Sierra storms, conditions will make driving a challenge. Snow tire or chain restrictions will likely be in effect along most highways and passes, including Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 50, California highways 28, 89 and 267, and Nevada highways 28, 207 and 431.
