Tahoe has been getting bombarded with powder over the last week, and all mountain-goers are digging it! We have the latest snow report for you as well as some tips on how to stay safe out there.
There have been reports of 4-8 feet of snow at the various mountain resorts, and more than 70″ in 7 days over all of South Lake Tahoe. Today will be sunny enough to enjoy the fresh snow, Saturday will have another dusting of snowfall, and Sunday will bring considerably more powder. While skiers & snowboarders have been hitting the lifts, the snow removal crews of the City of South Lake Tahoe have been working hard to keep the streets safe for travel.
According to the City of SLT website, the fearless crews have been plowing roadways, sanding the icy intersections, and removing snow from parking lots as well as facilities around town. In order to help them keep the city safe, you can pitch in by following these snowy conditions guidelines:
- Keep the streets clear! Do not park cars in the street when there is snowfall so plows can get through and do their jobs quickly and efficiently.
- Move those cans — trash cans, that is. The city asks that you keep all trash receptacles behind the berm of your property/the property you are renting for the weekend.
- Give ’em space. Whether you’re walking or driving, a safe distance to keep is 40+ feet.
- Shove it properly. According to the City of SLT, as you clear your driveway “shovel to the right as you face the street.”
