Ski and Snowboard Lessons for Kids

What better way to grow your passion for snow sports than to pass it on to your little ones? Each mountain resort surrounding South Lake Tahoe offers various packages for teaching kids of all ages how to ski and snowboard.

Heavenly

No matter the age range, Heavenly offers three lesson types: Group Lessons, Private Lessons, and Small Group Lessons. All lessons are offered at each of their three separate locations: California, Gondola, and Boulder.

Ski Lessons & Snowboard Lessons:

How old? 4-5 years or 6-13 years old for skiing, 5-6 years or 7-13 years old for snowboarding

How long? All day starting at 9:00am

How much? You can purchase tickets online or at the window, purchasing online ahead of time will save you some money.

Sierra at Tahoe

Sierra offers private lessons and group programs for kids of differing ages and abilities.

Discovery Program: Ski and snowboard lessons for 3-4 year olds at the beginner level. This program is to introduce kids to all things snow related.

Pioneer Program: Ski and snowboard lessons for 5-6 year olds at the beginner and intermediate levels. This programs helps to teach more specific skills in skiing and snowboarding for new learners.

Explorers Program: Ski and snowboard lessons for 7-12 year olds at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. This programs focuses on broadening skills and learning more about equipment, terrain, and conditions.

Kirkwood also offers group, private, and small group lessons, all of which are held at the Timber Creek location.

There are ski lessons for 3-4 year olds (Mini Rippers), as well as 5-12 year olds (Mt. Explorers). The lessons are broken down by skill level, are offered for a half day or a full day, have am and pm sessions, and come in 1-3 day packages. The prices range from $90-$375.

There are snowboard lessons for 3-4 year olds (Mini Groms), as well as 5-12 year olds (Groms). The lessons are broken down by skill level, are offered for a half day or a full day, have am and pm sessions, and come in 1-2 day packages. The prices range from $117-$250.

Make a Weekend of It

Plan a trip up to Tahoe and make a weekend vacation out of watching your little groms learn new skills in the snow. 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup Coming to Squaw Valley

This stupendously snowy winter is getting rewarded with the return of the International Ski Federation World Cup. It has been 19 years since an FIS World Cup was held in CA, but all that changes as the 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup comes to Squaw Valley on March 9th-12th.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will be hosting a full weekend of events, including bound-to-be-epic slalom skiing by Julia Mancuso and Mikaela Shiffrin on the Olympic famous Red Dog run.
