While skiers & snowboarders have been hitting the lifts, the snow removal crews of the City of South Lake Tahoe have been working hard to keep the streets safe for travel.

According to the City of SLT website, the fearless crews have been plowing roadways, sanding the icy intersections, and removing snow from parking lots as well as facilities around town. In order to help them keep the city safe, you can pitch in by following these snowy conditions guidelines:

  • Call 511 to get read conditions before travel – it is advised to limit travel as much as possible due to hazardous conditions and to expect delays
  • Keep the streets clear! Do not park cars in the street when there is snowfall so plows can get through and do their jobs quickly and efficiently.
  • Give ’em space. Whether you’re walking or driving, a safe distance to keep is 40+ feet.
  • Shove it properly. According to the City of SLT, as you clear your driveway “shovel to the right as you face the street.”
