Drink Like the Locals! Nanobreweries, Tap Houses and Bottle Shops

They say there’s something about the water in Lake Tahoe, it has won awards; We think it’s the hops! South shore is home and host of the best brews and even better times. From the long standing tap house McP’s to our newest brewery Mountain Brews, you can find a brewery just around every corner. What better way to spend the evening than with a cold one and good company?

Mountain Brewsbrewing

Just off the highway but still tucked away, is a charming old cabin turned local newspaper publisher and local nanobrewery. That’s right, on weekday this little space churns out the local paper, Mountain News, and on the weekend the  space turns into a pint-sized party! Serving short pours, this craft brewery is an unforgettable experience. Open Fridays and Saturdays 4PM-10PM.

South Lake Brewing Co.

Have a pint at the locals’ watering hole down at the Y (Neighborhood and area surrounding the major intersection between highway 50, highway 89, and Lake Tahoe Blvd.) South Lake Brewing serves up a slew of their own brews and hosts Monday Trivia Night. If you’re hungry, it’s BYO! You can also catch some local grub setting up shop in the parking lot, like brick oven pizzas or farm-to-fork burritos. When summer rolls around so do the massive shop doors opening up to the outdoor area with corn hole and picnic tables!

Cold Water Brewery & Grill

With award-winning beer and food, they have it all with top notch service! Not just bartenders and servers, they are barmasters and food aficionados. Brewing up some of the best beer and doing it with fun! Check out some of their awesome specials during happy hour or on flannel Fridays for $4 beers. Sunday is definitely Funday here with their full Bloody Mary bar during Sunday brunch!

In a pickle? This is the brewery for you, off the marked trail and a little something for everyone. Not only do they brew their own beer, they are masters of pickling with an assortment of pickled vegetables talked about around the lake! The vibe is homey with a cabin feel, loads of games, and a backyard outdoor space when the weather gets warm. They offer a lunch/dinner menu and always have a few guest appearances on tap from other local breweries.

The Hangar

This local taproom and bottle shop has just recently opened in 2018 and is already one of our favorites. You have options with 30 rotating beers on tap and over 50 bottle choices! They have a massive outdoor patio to match with fire pits, corn hole and oversized jenga! If you want to bring your own food this is another BYO snack shack.

McP’s Taphouse Grill

This Irish Pub is home to traditional grub, the largest selection of beers on tap and a full bar. Located in the heart of Stateline near the casinos, they have a dog-friendly outdoor patio and live music every day. What doesn’t this place have? They didn’t forget about game day either with 19 big screens to watch on!
