Fall Food Festival – Presented by Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation 

What: The Fall Food Festival is the annual Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation fundraiser. Come eat food from local restaurants, drink beverages from local breweries and wineries, dance all night, participate in auctions and raffles, and raise money to give back to the local schools.

Where: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe

When: Saturday, October 7th, 2017 from 6:00pm – 9:30pm

Cost: $50, purchase tickets now at LTUSD schools, the district office, or at the door

Oktoberfest – Hosted by Historic Camp Richardson Resort

What: All things German! This event is Camp Richardson Resort’s take on the traditional German Oktoberfest. That means beer galore, German-style foods and desserts, a bratwurst-eating competition, and lederhosen for days. There will also be craft booths, face paintings, a pumpkin patch, balloon benders, a bungee platform, climbing wall, live music, the annual dog costume contest, and even more family-friendly fun.

Where: Camp Richardson Resort 

When: Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th from 10:00am – 5:00pm each day

Cost: FREE admission, there will be varying costs for food and activities throughout

Sample the Sierra in South Lake Tahoe

Grab your tasting glass and bring your appetite. The South Lake Tahoe annual farm-to-fork Sample the Sierra event is back for another year of delicious experiences. This event pairs local chefs with locally sourced foods to create one scrumptious day for everyone who comes out.

Event Details

What: Dueling chef competitions where you get to taste the results, samplings of locally sourced foods paired with beer/wine/spirits, live art creations, Tahoe-made goods such as jewelry and home decor for sale, games for adults and kids, live music all day, and more!

When: Saturday, September 16th, 2017 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm (tastings end at 4:00pm)

Cost: Tasting tickets for food and beverage samplings is $40 per person. For food-only tickets the cost is $30. Children 3 and under are free. You may also walk around the event for free, but to taste you must purchase a ticket. Lake Tahoe Marathon: Planning A Foot Ahead

Ready to run? Untie your running shoes for a moment and choose where you’re going to relax your muscles after the big race.

The 22nd Annual Lake Tahoe Marathon is just over a month away, which means you’ll need to take a break from training to plan your vacation surrounding the event. While the Lake Tahoe Marathon is on Sunday, October 15th, there are plenty of other races and events surrounding the big day which anyone can participate in beginning Thursday, October 12th and ending Sunday, October 15th.

  • Multi-day races: Double Dare – 144 miles in 2 days, Triple Dare – 216 miles in  3 days, or the Quadzilla Dare – 288 miles in 4 days

  • Volunteer: you can volunteer to help put on the Lake Tahoe Marathon by being part of course direction, a designated cheering section, a water stand attendee, a start/finish line assistant, and more. The runners & city need the support!

Heavenly Village Carnival, Art & Music Festival 

  • What: Family-friendly entertainment in the form of live music, art, various types performers, rides and games, car shows, DJs, dancing, and more.
    • Highlights: Tea Cup Ride for kids, stilt walkers, jugglers, music by resident DJ Ca$h Ma$ters, Reno World Dance Collection performances, live music by Steel Breeze who covers hits songs from the 70’s to today, more live music by Milton Merlos, Grace Hayes, Jelly Bread, and Musicole.
  • When: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 1:00-9:30pm each day.

Labor Day Lasers at Lakeview

  • What: The City of South Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, and On Course Events are putting on a light show of lasers over the lake as well as entertainment surrounding for a family-friendly good time.
    • Schedule of events:
      – 4:30pm Event Starts
      – 5:45pm DJ Break-Laser Load-in
      – 6:15pm DJ Resumes
      – 8:30pm Laser and Fire Plume Display Begins
      – 9:00pm Laser and Fire Plume Display Ends
    • Please note: there is limited parking, a free bike valet is offered, and dogs are not allowed at the event.
  • When: Sunday, September 3rd from 4:30 – 9:00pm.
  • Where: Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach. Click here for directions.
  • Cost: Free! The event is free, but you might want to bring extra cash for the food trucks, local merchant stands, and beer & wine garden.
